Alarm Response Management Committee Update

The Alarm Management Committee continues its work throughout Minnesota to promote responsible alarm management in the communities we serve.  The Minnesota Electric Security and Technology Association (MNESTA) has formed an alarm management committee working with the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA).  The committee serves as resource for you to address false alarms and ordinance issues related to alarm systems.  Committee members are available to speak at your regional or department meetings, offer you information on alarm users’ classes and assist you with alarm ordinance and false alarm information. We also have alarm-user brochures available for you to distribute in the communities you serve...

 

Change in Federal Regulations Affecting the Alarm Industry

On April 22, 2010, regulations regarding pre-1978 built residential structures occupied by children less than six years of age and/or pregnant women are scheduled to go into effect, although the Electronic Security Association (ESA-formerly NBFAA) and others are working to postpone the regulations until October....

Spring 2010 Membership/Communications Committee Update

Over the past few months our committee has been hard at work in identifying potential vendors that may have the qualifications and expertise to assist us in fulfilling our objectives of having a website that is easy to use, while becoming our main communication method to our members and other stakeholders in our industry. During the process of defining these potential partners, we also defined our main goals in what we wanted the website to do, and we created a formal request for proposal to submit to these vendor candidates...
