MNESTA (formerly The Minnesota Burglar and Fire Alarm Association) is an industry association representing companies who install, service, and monitor electronic security systems for the commercial and residential industry.
We follow a Code of Ethics to assure the consumer both quality and integrity from our member companies.
As an association, we also closely monitor all legislative activity that may affect our customers and our industry. Through years of negotiations, we now have licensing through the Minnesota Board of Electricity for installers and service personnel operating in the State of Minnesota.
Current issues that our association is monitoring and addressing are the issue of police response to alarm signals. Our association has a specific committee to specifically work with local municipalities and companies to assure future alarm response and false alarm reduction while helping consumers better understand how to operate their security systems.
We are also continuously monitoring legislation at the national and local levels including legislation regarding background checks for employees of security companies to assure effectiveness and compliance.
Our association also offers a complete and comprehensive training program to all of our members which allow them to stay current with changes and trends in our industry. This training enables members to maintain their State license while educated them on current technology to offer consumers while keeping pace with current installation and servicing practices.
Each year our association gives back to the people that protect our communities by offering a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors of police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical responders. It gives us a chance to say thanks to those who protect our lives and property every day.
In closing, our association has regular meetings and events that provide an opportunity for companies and individuals who compete throughout the year to come together in a non-competitive atmosphere to share ideas and better our industry. For more information on becoming a member or if you are a consumer looking to better understand the products and services our member companies provide, please review our entire website as it offers information that can benefit everyone.
